Hudspeth, who oversees diplomatic activities across 17 southern states in Nigeria, noted that this expanding alliance has the potential to shape commercial, cultural, political, and economic developments far beyond the African continent.
According to Punch, Hudspeth noted that Nigeria's cultural output has established Lagos as a "cultural powerhouse," driven by the international success of Nollywood, Afrobeats, fashion, arts, food, sports, and design.
The U.S. Consulate plans to actively support local filmmakers, musicians, and artists by helping to connect their creativity with international audiences.

Currently, more than 100 American companies operate in Lagos, demonstrating the United States' confidence in the long-term potential of the Nigerian market.
This commercial presence is complemented by deep people-to-people ties, as approximately 750,000 Nigerians living in the U.S. constitute a highly successful diaspora community contributing more than $20 billion in annual remittances.
Representing the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, welcomed the renewed U.S. focus on driving innovation and expanding investment.
She expressed a strong desire to see "more Lagos businesses finding their way into American markets" and more partnerships in technology and innovation.
However, Salu-Hundeyin also pointed out that reaching the full potential of this relationship requires addressing significant investment obstacles.
